Researchers Developing Clinical Trials/Participation
NIH is supporting clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccine candidates to identify vaccines that are safe, effective, and work for the people who need it most. To conquer COVID-19, participation from every community is critical. Learn how your participation in clinical research can make a difference: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb
Researchers have been working to develop a COVID-19 vaccine that is safe, effective, and works for the people who need it most. In order to do that, participation from all communities is critical. Diversity in Clinical Trials
Participants in any clinical trial should represent all the people who may use the drug or vaccine being tested. This ensures the vaccine is safe and effective for everyone that needs it. Historically, people of color have been underrepresented in clinical research. But your participation can make a difference in the effort to conquer COVID-19: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb
Inclusion of Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American communities in COVID-19 vaccine trials is essential for the development of vaccines that are safe and effective for these hard-hit communities. Find helpful strategies to ensure representation from diverse communities: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb
NIH-funded clinical trials are underway to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. To have a vaccine that works for all Americans, these trials must include participation of diverse communities across the country. Learn how your participation can make a difference: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb #ConquerCOVID19
Inclusion of Black, Hispanic/Latino, & Native American communities in #COVID19 research is needed in order to develop vaccines & treatments that work for everyone. Trials should be as diverse as the people at risk for the disease: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb

COVID-19 Safety Measures
Face coverings, physical distancing, quarantining of those exposed to COVID-19, and isolating those infected can help stop the spread. But we need a safe and effective vaccine to conquer COVID-19. Learn how enrolling in a clinical trial can help: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb

Disparities
Coronavirus can affect anyone, regardless of their race or ethnicity. However, data show that rates of COVID-19 are disproportionately high among African Americans. Learn how COVID-19 affects African Americans and what researchers are doing to help: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb
Data show that COVID-19 impacts Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Native American populations at much higher rates. By including people from these groups in clinical research on COVID-19, researchers can ensure that the resulting vaccines and treatments will work for the people in highest need: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb

How Vaccines Work
When you get a vaccine, your body’s immune system is primed to recognize and attack a specific pathogen if it tries to invade the body. And since vaccines are made of very small amounts of weakened or inactivated germs or only a component of the germ, they won’t give you the disease. NIH-funded scientists are working hard to find a COVID-19 vaccine that is safe and effective. Learn more: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb
Vaccines don’t just protect you — they also protect the people around you. When enough people get vaccinated against a certain disease, germs can’t travel as efficiently — and the entire community, including vulnerable populations and those who cannot get vaccinated, is less likely to get sick. That’s why NIH-funded scientists are working so hard to find a COVID-19 vaccine. Learn more: https://go.usa.gov/xfShb
