Tips to stay healthy this holiday season – 2

Narrator: This is NIH Health Matters, I’m Joe Balintfy. Experts recommend including health during the busy holiday season. Dr. Griffin Rodgers is with the NIH.

Rodgers: When you’re getting ready to go to a family gathering or celebration and you know there’s going to be a lot of food around, planning ahead really helps.

Narrator: He recommends these tips when it comes to holiday celebrations: Don’t “save up” for big meals, rather have a light snack beforehand; keep an eye on the drinks, alcohol in particular adds calories and enhances appetite; and go easy on dessert.
